Child Dental Benefits Schedule provides up to $1,095 of dental services to children aged 0-17 years at any point in the calendar year
Dental services covered by CDBS include:
Services Australia assesses a child’s eligibility from the start of each calendar year and routinely check for newly eligible children.
A notification of eligibility will be sent to the child or their parent/guardian either by post or electronically through MyGov.
It is optional for a parent/guardian or patient to present this notification to the practice at the time of the appointment.
A child is eligible if they are:
eligible for Medicare, and
aged 0-17 years at any point in the calendar year, and
receive a relevant Australian government payment, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A, at any point in the calendar year.
Child Dental Benefits Schedule provides dental services, including dental exams, dental X-rays, professional scale and clean, fissure sealants, tooth-coloured fillings, root canal treatment, and tooth removal procedures.

No application is needed for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. If your child is eligible, Medicare will then send you a letter.
To know if your child is eligible for CDBS, access your Medicare online account at my.gov.au or contact Medicare general enquiries hotline: 132 011.
Take advantage of the $1,095 benefit to pay for your child’s basic dental services in the span of two years.
If the funds are not fully used up in the first year, you can still use them in the next year only if your child is still in the program.
After the second year, any balance will not be carried forward.
As long as your balance can cover the fees for your child’s appointment, you don’t need to pay any out-of-pocket expenses.
Your claim will be bulk-billed through Medicare, so no patient co-payment is needed.
